About Dockside
Dockside was made for a single purpose: to take a rider from the pavement to a bicycle as quickly as possible. It opens directly on to the map, needs no account to browse, and asks for nothing it does not need.
The application
I.
The map
All eight hundred docking stations are held on the phone, so the map appears the moment the application opens. Your position is marked, with a beam showing the direction in which you are facing.
II.
Availability
Counts of pedal bicycles, electric bicycles and free spaces are refreshed as you move. A ring around each station shows at a glance how full it is, and directions to any station are a tap away.
III.
Hiring
Select a station and tap Hire. The release code stays on screen until you dismiss it, so it cannot be lost on the way to the stand.
IV.
Journeys
Past journeys, with totals of time and distance, are kept to hand and open without delay.
Requirements
- The map and live availability may be used without an account.
- Hiring requires an existing cycle hire account and an active access period (Single, Monthly or Annual), purchased on the cycle hire website.
- iPhone, iOS 17 or later. London only.
Privacy
Dockside carries no advertising and no analytics, and does not track its users.
Your location is used only to find nearby stations and is not stored. Your password is used once, to sign in, and is not retained. Payment is handled entirely on the cycle hire website.
